Assessing and Supporting Children

To ensure we meet the individual needs of our children, recognising what they find difficult and how we are supporting them, we complete a SEND Support Plan.

At Tiny Treasures, we do this by following the Graduated Approach, with 4 stages of action. This will be led by the qualified SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and implemented by all staff in the setting. It is reviewed regularly, shared with parents/carers and used to tailor support to each child. It becomes crucial supporting evidence for making onward referrals, accessing additional funding and to request an Educational Health Care Plan assessment.
Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs):

An EHCP is a legal document which describes a child or young person’s special educational needs, the support they need, and the outcomes they would like to achieve. It brings together the support a child needs across education, health and social care. This may be applied for if it is felt a child will require additional support than what is typically provided to access an educational setting. Advice on if and when this is necessary for your child will be given when appropriate and discussions will take place to inform parents and carers of the process.
